When are you open?

Year Round

Open daily 9am-5 pm, 7 days a week.
Extended hours Memorial Day to early August (open til 6 pm)

Plan to arrive at least 30-45 minutes prior to closing to be sure of a tour.

The cave temperature is the same all year so both during summer heat and winter cold are great times to visit.
Weather is never a problem. Open 363 days a year.

We are closed Thanksgiving and Christmas day.

 
 

How long are tour wait times?

Less than 30 minutes.

Typical summer wait will be 30 minutes or less. Wait times may increase on holidays or peak summer weekends. Off season tours can be up to 40-45 minutes apart. We always put you on the very next available tour, no waiting for tours on a set schedule.

Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to closing to be sure of a place on a tour, earlier to enjoy more things to do at Indiana Caverns.

How much does a tour cost?

It Varies.

Please see our tour pages for pricing information. For groups of 12 or more or school groups, discounted rates are available with advance reservations. Individuals may purchase tickets online.

 
 

Can I buy tickets online?

Individuals can.

Individuals may to purchase tickets online. You can only buy up to 11 tickets.
Groups of 12 or more may be eligible for group rates.

Gift tickets are also available.

 
 

How cold is the cave? What should I wear?

56 Degrees. A Jacket.

The cave is 56 degrees year round. You may appreciate a jacket or long sleeves during the underground boat ride. Good walking shoes are recommended. However, most anything without high heels should be fine. Thong sandals and flip flops are not suitable.

 
 

What is there to do nearby?

A Whole Lot.

There is a great selection of shopping and dining opportunities, wineries, motels, cabins, and bed & breakfasts all within 10 minutes of the cavern.

O’Bannon Woods State Park is also nearby. An RV campground is less than 2 miles from the cave in Corydon. Harrison County has a great park system that includes camping, pools and a civil war battle site just a mile away!

Cash and most credit cards.

We'll donate a pair of tickets.

We’re always happy to support regional non profit organizations as well as community based fund raisers.

We’ll donate a pair of cave tour tickets (valued at $39) which can be used as a live silent auction item or as part of a larger package.

Eligibility Guidelines

Donation requests should be submitted at least *4 weeks prior to the event. Out of state requests must be within 50 miles of Corydon, Indiana. Submit request by mail or email.

Request via email or mail. If mailing, please include a self addressed, stamped envelope. Requests should be on letterhead and include:

  • Date of the event
  • How tickets will be used: silent auction, door prize or other special, public event.
  • Contact name
  • Address where tickets should be mailed

Who can go on a cave tour? Any restrictions?

Most, but it's not handicap accessible.

Most Anyone

People of all ages are able to take the cave tour. Although Indiana Caverns is not handicap accessible, most anyone who can walk unassisted should be able to enjoy the tour.

Elevation Details

There is a 110 feet of elevation change in Indiana Caverns. From the visitor’s center, it is mostly downhill to the underground river. On the way out, the tour route climbs almost 110 feet from the underground river level back through the Big Bone Mountain room and up the ramp into the Visitor’s Center. Visitors must be able to walk up several ramps and a several sections with some steps.

Small Children or Infants

Small children are welcome. If they can’t yet walk, they will need to be carried in your arms or a front carrier for the cave tour. Strollers and backpacks are not allowed. Partway through the cave tour is an underground boat ride, which gives everyone a chance to sit down, rest and relax.

Enjoy you drinks and snacks before the tour, no food, drink or snacks allowed in the cave.

 
 

Can I take my pet?

Nope.

Pets are not allowed in the cave.
